about

Dominican-born, Santo Domingo based producer Cohoba makes his long-awaited full debut on Fine Grains with the 'Exodo EP'. Five original productions, remixes from grime experimentalist T_A_M and fellow RBMA-alumni Daisuke Tanabe, and a guest appearance from MC They Call Me Raptor on the EP' lead track. Cohoba, whose name is from an old Taíno Indian transliteration for a ceremony in which the ground seeds of the cojóbana tree were inhaled, leads listeners on an intensive path through his production repertoire. From modern hip hop to more pensive electronica and club music. Despite the cold harshness of the synth stabs and drums, there is an authentic warmth omni-present throughout the tracks.

Cohoba, aka Jorge Read, has been producing since 2007. It didn’t take long before he was getting positive reactions, being selected as one of the few to attend the prestigious Red Bull Music Academy 2010 in London. He has paved a way for himself in the world of audio, from being a label head on the premiere Dominican electronic music label Stereoptico, to touring Latin America performing live electronic music with his hip hop group Whitest Taino Alive and in an award winning theatrical production.
